Free TABE Prep That Starts Where You Are
TABE stands for Tests of Adult Basic Education. It checks your skills in reading, math and language. This page explains how the test works and how to get ready for it, free.
What is the TABE?
The TABE has three tests:
The newest version is TABE 13&14, released in 2025. The version before it is TABE 11&12, released in 2018. Ask the school or agency giving your test which version you will take.
The TABE comes in levels. A short locator test, with one part each for reading, math and language, decides which level you take in each subject. Your level can be different in each one.
Scores from different levels are on the same scale, so they can be compared to show your progress.
Each test has its own time limit. TABE 13&14 Math uses the Desmos calculator on screen.
