SPARK uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to operate the platform, keep you signed in, and remember your preferences. This notice explains what we use and your choices. It supplements the Privacy Policy.
Types of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary. Required to sign you in, keep your session secure, and deliver core features. These cannot be turned off within SPARK.
- Preferences. Remember choices such as your accessibility and display settings.
- Functional third-party (live tutoring). If you join a live tutoring session on the SPARK website, the embedded Zoom video client that runs the call may set its own cookies and local storage on your device. These are needed to deliver the session you chose to join and are not used for advertising or to track you across other sites or apps. Live tutoring is a website-only feature; it is not part of the SPARK mobile app.
On SPARK’s public website
The public pages of sparkcourses.org and the SPARK Free sign-up pages (the pages you see before you sign in) also use two kinds of cookies to tell us which of our posts, ads and partners bring people to SPARK. Nothing here is used inside SPARK once you sign in, and none of it is used on your program’s own SPARK address.
- Campaign source. A SPARK cookie (
spark_attr, kept for 90 days) records the campaign tags, creator code and page you arrived on, for example “a SPARK TikTok post.” If you create a free account, we save that source with it so we can count which campaigns lead to sign-ups. It contains nothing about who you are. - Analytics. Google Analytics cookies (
_gaand_ga_followed by an ID, kept for up to 13 months) count visits and actions on those public pages, such as viewing a page or starting sign-up. We turn off Google’s advertising features, signals and ad personalization, and we never send Google your name, email address or anything you type.
What we do not use
SPARK does not use advertising cookies, and we do not allow third parties to use cookies on SPARK to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites or apps. We do not sell your information.
Your choices
Inside SPARK, after you sign in, we use only strictly necessary and preference cookies, so there is nothing optional to turn off there. On the public website, if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” signal, we do not load Google Analytics. You can also block or delete any of these cookies through your browser or device settings, or use Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of SPARK from working.
